Our commitment

Care Compass is committed to making this website accessible to as many people as possible. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA.

How accessible this website is

We know some parts may not be fully accessible. We are working to fix these issues. Known limitations:

  • Some interactive tools may not work fully with all screen readers — we are testing and improving these.
  • Older PDF documents may not be fully accessible.
  • Some data charts have text alternatives but may not convey all visual information to screen reader users.

Technical information

Care Compass is built using semantic HTML5, ARIA roles where needed, and respects user preferences for reduced motion and high contrast. We use:

  • A visible focus indicator (yellow ring) on all interactive elements
  • Colour contrast ratios that meet or exceed WCAG 2.2 AA requirements
  • Skip-to-main-content link at the top of every page
  • aria-live regions on dynamic content (tool results, nation panels)
  • Descriptive alt text on all non-decorative images
